draws with scissorsFlora Rosefsky loves to cut. She loses track of time when her favorite long pointed scissors cut directly into color, whether it is painted paper, fabric or ephemera. The collages reflect a unique spirituality. Joyful describes her work that incorporates primary colors, fabric, paper cutouts and an inventive and often surprising use of found paper. Her paper cutouts, applique story quilts, and designs for stained-glass windows manifest the fluid movement of line and her intuitive sense of color and composition. Like Henri Matisse, she loves the freedom to “draw with scissors” to create paper cutouts while adding a spirit of spontaneity that is an integral part of each new work.
Rosefsky’s work has been selected for national exhibitions in 2005 that included The Women’s Caucus for Art Exhibition, Gender in Motion, and The National Collage Society’s 21rst National Juried Exhibition at The Butler Institute in Salem, Ohio. Her work was selected for the 2007 JWAN national show at Columbia/Barnard University in New York and at Boston University. Her solo show, Time Has Wings presented at The Sycamore Place Gallery & Studios in Decatur, Georgia where she presently works, examined issues about family relationships and the response to our human vulnerability. Her work is included in several private and public collections in Georgia and New York.Back to group page
